Henderson coach surprised with new prosthetic running legs

Even though Eddie Garcia lost his hands and feet last year after acquiring a flesh-eating bacteria, he said nothing will stop him from living a normal, active life.

To help him along the way, the Challenged Athletes Foundation presented Garcia with a grant that will allow him to purchase Ossur Flex-Run legs.

“Can I put the legs on now?” he said when he was presented the grant today. “What city has a marathon going on? I want to start running now.”

Garcia, a youth coach for the city of Henderson, has remained active since his amputation and even participated in the half of the half marathon in November.

His full story is slated to run in Henderson View April 17.
