Master gardeners to conduct free, themed tours at desert Demonstration Gardens

Clark County master gardeners will offer a tour of the Demonstration Gardens at 10 a.m. March 16. Preparing for spring will be focus of the tour, which is free and open to the public.

The Demonstration Gardens have more than 500 species of desert-appropriate landscape plants including trees, shrubs, perennials, palms, cactuses and agaves. They are identified by their botanical and common names.

Those attending are asked to meet in the courtyard area. Participants are encouraged to have walking shoes, hats and water.

The Demonstration Gardens are at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.

They are open for self-guided tours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Additional tours are scheduled for April 13, Paint Your Garden with Color, and May 11, Desert Plants Come Alive.

Special tours for groups of five or more can be arranged by calling Ann Edmunds at 702-257-5587 at least two weeks in advance.

For additional information, contact the master gardener help desk at lvmastergardeners@unce.unr.edu or 702-257-5555.
