IMAX theater opens at Red Rock Resort
December 12, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Giant-screen IMAX invades Summerlin this week as Regal Cinemas opens a new IMAX-equipped auditorium at its 16-screen multiplex inside the Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd.
The Red Rock is the third IMAX auditorium in Las Vegas, joining one inside Luxor and another at Brenden Theatres' Palms multiplex.
The Red Rock's 350-seat IMAX theater -- featuring a slightly curved screen 61 feet wide and 35 feet high -- will show digitally remastered Hollywood releases, just as the one at the Palms does. (The Luxor's IMAX theater presents documentaries and other short subjects.)
"I Am Legend" is scheduled to open Friday at Red Rock.
To inaugurate the IMAX theater, $2 screenings of an earlier hit, "300," will take place today and Thursday, benefiting Toys for Tots.
