Lexus creates hoverboard, kinda

It's everything you've ever dreamed of, yet you can't help but feel a bit disappointed.

On paper, it's amazing. Lexus' new hoverboard is finally released and it looks just like that wonderful, magical piece of technology you've seen in the movies.

However, it doesn't work the way you think it would. Rather than hover over any surface, it's essentially an electro magnet running on a magnetic rail, similar to a Japanese bullet train. While this does look impressive, it's not exacty the hoverboard society has been eagerly awaiting.

That's not to say that it's not fun to watch the hoverboarder skate the park, floating only inches above the ground. He even skates over water a bit, kinda like Marty McFly.

In the end, the series of Lexus hoverboard videos feels more like an ad-campaign than a release of every nerd's dream plaything. But, hey, at least it's a start. Let's give it a decade and see what they come up with.
