HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, four-mile hike along the Oak Creek rail. On Tuesday, a strenuous, 11-mile hike along the Grand Circle. On Wednesday, a three-and-a-half mile hike with a 450-foot elevation gain at Fire Station Hill. On Friday, a four-mile moderate hike from Red Spring. On Saturday, a moderate, four-mile hike along the base of the escarpment. Also on Saturday, a moderate, two-mile hike at Keystone Thrust ( 515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www. aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: on Tuesday, the second part of an art class for those 15 and older. No experience necessary and all supplies are included. On Thursday, an ongoing program at the visitor center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the desert tortoise. On Saturday, a program for 2-6 year olds for a program about the antelope ground squirrel, including a craft and activity (515-5367).
