R-J compiling NFL bar list again

There's a nip in the air, the leaves are subtly changing hue, and everywhere there is the unmistakable feeling that autumn is on its way.

Ha! Had you going there, right?

Fact is, it's not going to feel even remotely like fall for another two months or so, and when it finally arrives, it'll arrive quickly and be over just as fast.

At least we can share a classic autumn ritual with everybody else in this great, sports-obsessed land: the unofficial end of summer and the return of the National Football League.

And with the impending arrival of the NFL's 2012 season, the Review-Journal is again compiling its list of hometown NFL bars.

This year's directory of Las Vegas Valley bars that cater to hard-core fans of specific NFL teams will appear in the Sept. 2 Living section, three days before the season officially kicks off.

As always, our goal is to direct fans of specific NFL teams to places where they can watch their teams play while surrounded only by fellow fans of their team.

The rules:

■ Each bar on our list must show only its team's game while that team is playing. That means we don't list sports bars, sports books, casinos, bars or rooms inside casinos, or anyplace where other games are being shown while the hometown team's game is being broadcast.

■ Each bar on our list must show every single game its team plays, meaning the bar must subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket satellite package.

■ Each venue must offer some sort of food and/or drink special during its team's games, which we'll list, complete with prices for each.

■ We'll be happy to list giveaways bars will have during their teams' games - drawings for footballs, caps, key chains for instance - but we don't list gaming-related promotions.

In order to be listed, the bar's owner or manager must call us with the relevant information. We'll accept the details only from a bar owner or manager, and only during a one-on-one telephone conversation. We do not accept voice mail messages, emails, press releases, letters or faxes.

The number to call is 383-0280 - if we don't answer, leave your name and a phone number and we'll get back to you ASAP. We accept calls from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 22.

So, bar owners and managers, give us a call, and let the most wonderful time of the year commence.
