Take the Small View

We think the iPod is the greatest invention since the Post-It Note. But we have noticed that most of the iPod accessories we see deal with the device's music-playing functions.

Now, however, comes the Altec Lansing 8.5-inch Digital Mini-Theater, a tabletop theater that lets you watch your iPod videos on a widescreen LCD display.

The player works with all iPod models and other portable media players, too. It features 3-inch full-range speakers, a built-in side-firing subwoofer and an SFX stereo field expander that, the manufacturer says, "widens the audio soundstage, giving you a genuine movie theater experience."

It's compatible with iPod models that have alarm clock and sleep timer features, comes with a remote control and AC adapter, and has a cable adapter and input jacks for playing other devices, too.

The system retails for $349.95 at The Sharper Image, which has stores at the Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South; the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort, 3663 Las Vegas Blvd. South; Crossroads Commons, 8885 W. Charleston Blvd.; The Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road, Henderson; and The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2225 Village Walk Drive, Henderson.
