THE WATER COOLER

Here are a few things in news, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

• The Obama family's Portuguese water dog arrives at the White House. Bill O'Reilly slams the administration for giving White House jobs to foreigners; Glenn Beck just goes off on another crying jag.

• Parents complain about the budget-challenged Clark County School District paying a consultant $75,417 to analyze and color-code school board members' brains. Color their brains an angry, flaming red.

• A pastor in Vaesteras, Sweden, celebrates Easter by unveiling a life-size Lego statue of Jesus. Pencil in the unveiling of the sugar cube Last Supper diorama for around Easter 2017.

• Actor Kal Penn leaves Hollywood for a job in the Obama administration. Somewhere, at this very moment, a producer is working up a treatment for "Mr. Kumar Goes to Washington."

• Fishermen in the Philippines ignore requests from the World Wildlife Fund and turn a rare 1,100-pound megamouth shark into dinner. The recipe came from "Dodo Omelets and Unicorn Stew: The Cookbook for Gourmets Who Just Don't Care."
