THE WATER COOLER

Here are a few things in news, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

* A British advocacy group says some baby foods contain as much sugar and saturated fats as cookies and cheeseburgers. At least the toddlers can put their Playskool Li'l Heart Surgeon sets to good use.

* Denise Richards admits her rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at last weekend's Chicago Cubs game was "horrifying." Dear Denise: Admit the same about your performance in that James Bond film and all is forgiven.

* A study says that the French spend more time sleeping and eating than residents of the world's other wealthiest nations. Americans, meanwhile, spend more time than anyone else watching insipid reality shows and making fun of the French.

* Miss USA runner-up Carrie Prejean reportedly will fill in on "The View" when Elisabeth Hasselbeck takes maternity leave. Pop quiz: Who actually won the Miss USA pageant? Exactly.

* Danny Gans passes away. The voices are stilled, the silence is deafening.
