The Water Cooler

Here are a few things in news, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

* During a "60 Minutes" interview, President Barack Obama discusses the need for "gallows humor" to make it through tough times. When we think of AIG executives, we think about gallows, too, but it's not at all humorous.

* Former O.J. Simpson buddy Kato Kaelin guest stars in "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" at Planet Hollywood Resort. He'll play the annoying guest nobody remembers but who hangs around forever.

* Nevada legislators will consider a bill to make the vivid dancer damselfly the official state insect. Well, it certainly sounds sleazy enough to represent us.

* Downtown Las Vegas hosts a Knight Rider Festival. What, were the "A-Team" guys too busy to come to Las Vegas?

* University of Nevada, Las Vegas students design and build a 250-pound concrete canoe for an upcoming engineering competition. Then it's on to the Bonzo Bonham Lead Zeppelin Invitational.
