Here are a few things in news, entertainment and pop culture that we've been talking about lately.

■ Reporters investigate whether the Chanel purse Paris Hilton u25B6 was arrested with -- and which she claims isn't hers -- is the same purse Hilton tweeted about buying several weeks ago. Coming this fall: Forensic stylists dig for the truth in "CSI: Fashionista."

■ Assembly Minority Leader Pete Goicoechea backs off of a notion to impose a sales tax on food. Oddly, the tax wouldn't have covered cake, so, if we wanted to, we could still eat cake.

■ Bristol Palin will be a contestant on this season's "Dancing with the Stars." But, taking a cue from her mom's gubernatorial career, she'll quit before the season ends.

■ Kara DioGuardi leaves "American Idol." Who?
