Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that we've been talking about lately.

n Las Vegas baseball phenom Bryce Harper u25B6 is drafted by the Washington Nationals. Pro sports: The only profession where being the best at what you do gets you a job at the worst company there is.

n Nevada seventh-grader Dakota Jones is eliminated from the 2010 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee by the word "tiralee." What, they saw that he was from Las Vegas and said, "Give him a word that sounds like a stripper's name"?

n The Burlesque Hall of Fame opens in downtown Las Vegas. Lose an art museum, gain a burlesque museum ... yeah, that's about right for Las Vegas.
