Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

* A magazine survey gives Nevada's public K-12 educational system a D. That's the one that comes after A, B and C, kids.

* Televangelist Pat Robertson blames Haiti's earthquake on that country's "pact with the devil." No word yet on why the rest of us are plagued with Pat Robertson.

* Nevada's first "prostidude" begins work at the Shady Lady Ranch, comparing himself to civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks. Well, they're not paying him to be smart, are they?

* Alleged White House party crashers/publicity seekers Tareq and Michaele Salahi are booed during a celebrity hosting gig at Las Vegas' Pure. Sometimes, simple common sense can be found in the most unlikely places.
