Water Cooler; Bieber oh-no-baby song, Dick Clark, Kardashians

Here are a few things in news, entertainment and pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ Justin Bieber writes a song responding to the former Las Vegas woman who falsely accused him of fathering her baby. Really starting to like this kid ...

■ The Associated Press gives up and approves the use of "hopefully" to mean "it is hoped." Now if it could just come up with a more logical word for "more than one cactus."

■ The E! network renews "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" for three more years. December's Mayan apocalypse can't come soon enough.

■ Dick Clark passes away. Lots of good music, easy to like, we'll give his life a 98.

■ A New York woman donates a kidney to her boss and is fired anyway. There's a lesson in workplace politics here, but darned if we can figure out what it is.
