DETROIT, Maine — When a 3-year-old boy was approached by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he asked for something a little out of the ordinary.
While most kids his age dream of Disneyland, Kellen Tilton desired nothing more than a wheelchair-friendly path he could travel on to help his dad with the barn in their backyard, according to WLBZ 2.
"It is a unique wish," Make-A-Wish marketing director Sonya Purington said. "He wanted a path to the barn to help his dad."
Little Kellen has been paralyzed from the waist down since he was six months old, after being born with a cancerous tumor on his spine.
More than half a dozen Maine businesses are assisting in construction of the path in their backyard, which will also house a new swingset.
"This is something that's going to really, really improve his quality of life absolutely," Elizabeth Tilton told WABI TV.
