Nonprofit program will expand to four North Las Vegas high schools this fall

The nonprofit program Jobs for Nevada’s Graduates will expand to four North Las Vegas high schools this fall.

The four high schools — Canyon Springs, Cheyenne, Mojave and Legacy — are rated as two- or three-star schools by the state.

The program expansion will help about 600 students through mentoring, summer employment training and college preparation services.

The program, which will run for three years, will cost $2.3 million. The Clark County School District and Clark County government will provide $900,000 over three years and Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation will provide $270,000 over that period. The rest of the funding will come from the nonprofit and its partners.

The program, which operates in 32 U.S. states, first came to Nevada in 2013.
