3 arrested in southwest valley home burglary

Las Vegas police arrested two men and a woman in connection with a burglary Monday in the southwest valley, the department announced Friday.

Officers were called 3:24 p.m. Monday to a home in the 8100 block of Bonaventure Drive, near Buffalo Drive and Tropicana Avenue.

Three people were caught on the home’s surveillance cameras breaking in through the unlocked back door about 2 p.m. and taking several electronics. The car the burglars used appears twice on the video, which was shared on Facebook by a friend of the homeowner.

Three Apple computers and four Coach handbags were taken from the residence, police wrote in arresting documents.

After receiving tips through Crime Stoppers, Metro detectives arrested 26-year-old Sergio Ochoa, 24-year-old Caleb Smith and 22-year-old Tara Tatum in connection with the burglary.

Tatum told police in an interview that she, Ochoa and Smith are heroin addicts and had run out of money, her arrest report said. Smith, in a separate interview with police, confirmed he “had a drug habit and needed money.”

Ochoa was booked into Clark County Detention Center on charges of burglary with a gun and conspiracy to commit burglary. His bail is set at $22,000, according to jail records.

Smith was booked into CCDC and faces charges of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. Tatum, also housed at CCDC, faces a charge of conspiracy to commit burglary. Their bails are set at $12,000 and $2,000, respectively.
