81-year-old pedestrian hit in Wednesday crash dies
The 81-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a car in the southwest valley Wednesday morning succumbed to her injuries Friday, Las Vegas police said.
Joan Freeman, of Las Vegas, died at 1:10 p.m. at University Medical Center, where she was transported in critical condition after being struck by Curtis Shewbert’s 2003 Mercedes-Benz S430.
The crash occurred at 6:07 a.m. on Rainbow Boulevard just north of the intersection of Twain Avenue, according to Metro.
Freeman was crossing Rainbow outside of a marked crosswalk from west to east when she was struck, police said.
Shewbert remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
This was the 19th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2015.
