Apartment fire displaces 20 people

A central valley apartment complex caught fire Thursday afternoon and displaced at least 20 people while causing $650,000 in damage, Clark County officials said.

County firefighters responded to the blaze at 5:47 p.m. at the Sonoma Shadow apartments, 1750 E. Karen Ave., near Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue. Arriving firefighters attacked the blaze at an eight-apartment unit. The fire was knocked down in 30 minutes.

Four upstairs units were damaged by fire, while four downstairs units sustained water damage. No cause was given for Thursday's fire.

A $1.5 million fire occurred at Sonoma Shadows on July 5. Fireworks caused that fire.
