Barricade situation ends peacefully in southeast Las Vegas

Las Vegas police peacefully resolved a barricade situation in the southeast valley Monday morning.

Metro received a call just after midnight reporting domestic violence at a residence in the 1600 block of Port Astoria Court. The barricade was established near Steptoe Street and Greyhound Avenue, near East Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway, Metro Lt. David Gordon said. SWAT responded to the scene, he said.

The suspect, identified only as a man, was inside the residence and had initially refused to exit, Gordon said. But eventually he came out and police took him into custody “without incident,” Metro spokesman officer Larry Hadfield said.

Some nearby residents were temporarily evacuated from their homes.
