Catholic Charities to open summer day shelter Tuesday

The Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada's summer day shelter will open 9 a.m. today.

The summer shelter, located at the Donald W. Reynolds St. Vincent Plaza at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, can accommodate 100 men at a time with showers, bathrooms and cold drinking water.

The charity estimates serving 150 to 250 clients on a daily basis.

The shelter will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. It will close for the season on Sept. 30.

The charity's night shelter, in the same plaza, accommodates about 160 men and remains open year round from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., seven days a week.

Case managers work with the homeless men who stay in the day and night shelters and the homeless people who live on the street around the charity campus.
