Coroner identifies woman found in south valley apartment

A woman whose death was being investigated as a homicide Thursday night in the south valley was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office on Sunday.

Marissa Shalesa Gonzales’ body was found in an apartment of the Sunwood Village complex, 4020 S. Arville St., near West Flamingo Road and South Decatur Boulevard, according to Metro.

The 25-year-old’s cause and manner of death has not been determined by the coroner, but Las Vegas police arrested Nathanael Martinez, 21. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he is facing a murder charge, logs show.

Homicide detectives said Martinez lived at the apartment and invited the woman over. She was killed after the two had a fight, police said.

Police did not give any other details.

Gonzales’ city of residence was not immediately available.
