Coroner IDs 2 killed in separate valley crashes

Two men who were hit and killed in separate crashes this month were identified Saturday by the Clark County coroner's office.

Robert Allen Shubert, 44, died Monday after he was struck by a car near Palace Station.

Shubert was crossing Sahara Avenue, near Teddy Drive, outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a 2012 Nissan Versa. He was taken to University Medical Center where he died.

The 39-year-old woman driving the Nissan was uninjured in the crash.

Kymhan Brooks, 21, of Henderson, died Monday after he was hospitalized in a scooter crash Sept. 18 in Henderson, according to the coroner's office.

Brooks was driving a stolen scooter in a construction zone at the intersection of Green Valley Parkway and Clover Street about 9 p.m. Sept. 18, Henderson police said.

A car made a left turn in front of Brooks and he tried to pass the car on the left. The scooter ran into a traffic barrel, causing Brooks to lose control and veer into oncoming traffic on southbound Green Valley Parkway.

He was hit by a black 2008 Infiniti sedan. Brooks was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

Henderson police originally said Brooks was 26 years old.
