Coroner names man killed Wednesday in east LV shooting

A man who was shot and killed in an east valley apartment complex Wednesday night was identified Monday by the Clark County coroner's office.

Gary Patrick Kaname, 45, of Las Vegas, was shot several times about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday inside an apartment in the Sunrise Vista Apartments, 3801 E. Charleston Boulevard, near Pecos Road.

Kaname was taken to University Medical Center where he underwent surgery for about an hour. He was pronounced dead at 6 p.m. that night.

Kaname died of a gunshot wound to the torso, the coroner's office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Police on Wednesday were looking for a black man, about 30 years old, with a slender build and dark clothing in connection with the shooting.
