Department of Public Safety IDs trooper who fatally shot man on I-15

The Nevada Highway Patrol trooper who shot and killed a man on Interstate 15 over the weekend has been identified.
He is Trooper William White, a 4-year veteran of NHP, the Nevada Department of Public Safety announced Wednesday in a press release. He has been placed on routine administrative leave,
White fatally shot John T. Wilson III after NHP said Wilson was seen wielding a high-powered rifle while walking on the freeway. Wilson, 22, of North Las Vegas, had been spotted just south of Sahara Avenue.
I-15 was closed for seven hours in both directions while Las Vegas police investigated.
