Dining Pick of the Week: Carluccio’s

9821 S. Eastern Ave. at Silverado Ranch BOULEVARD, 431-5485

Anyone with a little bit of local history remembers Carluccio's Tivoli Gardens on East Tropicana Avenue. And depending on how far back you go, it was Liberace's Tivoli Gardens. But no matter what your memory, the restaurant's traditional Italian cuisine is as good as ever. Featured entrees, served with hot homemade Italian bread and soup or salad, include chicken Angelo, baked orange roughy, chicken livers tarragon, veal Florentine, chicken Marsala, sausage and peppers, seafood diablo, veal scallopini, linguini with calamari, chicken cacciatore, mostaccioli with broccoli (add chicken or shrimp), shrimp Alfredo and steak pizzaiola, a filet mignon with mushrooms, green peppers, onions, wine, garlic, black pepper and romano cheese. Among the pasta dishes are gnocci, pasta primavera, manicotti, jumbo ravioli and spaghetti with meatballs. There are Sicilian-style pizzas, soup, salads and desserts such as spumoni, cannoli, tiramisu, chocolate cake, cheesecake and tortoni, which is vanilla ice cream with Frangelico and amaretto. Popular appetizers are clams casino, shrimp scampi, mussels in red or white sauce and baked mushrooms in white sauce with melted cheese. Entrees begin at $13.99 and pasta dishes at $8.99. Carluccio's is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. - Jack Bulavsky
