You know this restaurant is going to be a little different when you enter through the back alley. But there’s nothing secret about the menu from restaurateurs Jenna and Michael Morton and executive chef Pablo Sanchez-Ortiz. Classic pozole is prepared with hominy, pork, avocado and shredded cabbage. Carne de res a la parrilla is served with beef skirt steak, wild mushrooms and roasted poblano peppers. Other entrees are chicken or shrimp enchiladas, seabass Vera Cruz with garlic, olives and serrano chilies, red snapper with roasted red pepper sauce, chicken burrito, camaron al Maya (shrimp, salted purple cabbage, mango) and hamburguesa Mexicana with ancho chiles, avocado, Oaxaca cheese and sweet potato fries. Several salads are grilled shrimp with jicama and chili-lime dressing and romaine with smoked chorizo and peppers. There is tuna and red onion tostadas, huevos rancheros, tortilla chicken soup and guacamole made with jalapeno, lime juice and pico de gallo. Refreshing ceviche features shrimp, snapper and bay scallops. Enjoy fresh fruit margaritas (guava, prickly pear, passion fruit, pomegranate, tamarind), along with a wide selection of tequilas. Entrees begin at $10. La Comida is open from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. — Jack Bulavsky
