LOCAL ANIMAL RESCUE PLANS
BARBECUE FUNDRAISER SATURDAY

A Home 4 Spot Animal Rescue is set to host a Western-themed barbecue fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at 880 Rancho Circle.

The event is scheduled to include line dancing instruction, disc jockeys and raffles.

CHILDREN'S ITEMS SOUGHT
FOR CONSIGNMENT SALE

I Second That Consignment is looking for new or gently used children's items, except cribs, for its sale, planned for Nov. 9-11 at the store's 4600 Meadows Lane location.

The sign-up deadline to sell items is 10 p.m. Saturday . The cost is $10 to register, and participants keep 65 percent of their total sales.

Participants can also volunteer to work two four-hour shifts during the sale in order to keep 70 percent of their total sales and to shop before the general public.

NV ENERGY CUSTOMERS OFFERED REBATES FOR USING SOLAR POWER

NV Energy customers can apply for the company's SolarGenerations rebate program through Nov. 9.

Those in the program can receive rebates of up to $3.10 per watt generated by solar power.

Applicants will be selected by a lottery following the closure of the application period.

SUNCOAST TO HOST FREE HEALTH FAIR
FOR FEDERAL EMPLOYEES

A free health fair for current and retired federal government employees and their spouses or survivors is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 9 in the second-floor ballroom at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive.

The event is sponsored by the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Representatives from the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, including Blue Cross-Blue Shield, GEHA, Mail Handlers, United Healthcare and the Health Plan of Nevada, are expected to attend and answer questions about 2013 health benefits.

FAMILY SWIM DAY PLANNED

A family swim day is planned from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Las Vegas Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza Road.

The all-ages event requires canned food donations to receive a free open swim day pass. Regular fees apply without a donation.

ADAPTIVE RECREATION PROGRAM
PLANNED FOR THOSE ages 7 TO 21

The Lorenzi Adaptive Recreation Program for those ages 7 to 21 with disabilities is set from 1 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. Participants can enjoy a new recreation experience every week, community outings, sports, games, arts and crafts, swimming and movies. The cost is $27 for one to three days, $36 for four days and $45 for five days, per person. It is closed Nov. 6, 12 and 22-23.

QUAD RUGBY PRACTICE OFFERED WEEKLY

Quad rugby practice for players ages 14 to adult is available from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays at the Minker Sports Complex, 275 N. Mojave Road.

ANNUAL WOMEN'S SUIT DRIVE PLANNED

The United Way of Southern Nevada's Women's Leadership Council plans to host its fifth annual women's suit drive from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the NV Energy parking lot at 6226 W. Sahara Ave.

The council is collecting new and gently-used suits and other business attire to assist women in need. The drive aims to help women prepare for career opportunities and gain confidence to succeed during an interview and in the workplace.

Donations will benefit United Way-accredited agencies with back-to-work programs, including Goodwill Career Connections, HopeLink, S.A.F.E. House, Safe Nest, The Shade Tree, the Women's Development Center and the Work Opportunities Readiness Center of Southern Nevada. Last year's drive collected more than 5,700 professional items.

CCOATS FOR KIDS DRIVE SCHEDULED
THROUGH SATURDAY AT ALBERTSONS

The 13th annual Coats for Kids drive is scheduled through Saturday at Albertsons stores across the Las Vegas Valley.

Residents can bring gently used coats to any Albertsons and place them in the marked box at the front of the store. Aramark Uniforms will pick up the coats and drop them off at Al Phillips The Cleaner, which has cleaned all the coats free for the past 13 years.

The coats are distributed to children in need by The Salvation Army's Family Services.

As part of the Lucky 13 theme for this year, anyone who donates a coat can enter a drawing for one of 13 pairs of free tickets to see Carrot Top's show a the Luxor. Entry forms are available at the Albertsons service desks.

HELP OF SOUTHERN NEVADA
SEEKS HOLIDAY VOLUNTEERS

HELP of Southern Nevada is looking for volunteers to assist with a number of programs this holiday season.

Assistance is accepted from individuals who can donate any amount of time.

Areas where volunteers are needed include assisting clients with their applications for holiday programs at HELP's main campus, 1640 E. Flamingo Road; assisting in receiving donated Thanksgiving turkeys at various locations (turkeys will be given to more than 1,200 families); and assisting in receiving holiday gifts for selected clients in the Adopt-A-Family program.
