LEARN TO PRESERVE ROSES AT MEETING PLANNED BY COOPERATIVE EXTENSION

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the South Valley Rose Society plan an educational meeting on the preservation of heritage roses at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

MORTUARY PLANS MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., plans to hold its 47th annual Memorial Day service at 9 a.m. Monday to honor military personnel who lost their lives.

Light refreshments and coffee are slated to be served at 8:30 a.m., followed by a ceremonial service to be led by American Post Legion No. 8.

NANNY AGENCY OPENS AT TOWN SQUARE

Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has opened Artsy Nannies, an agency that provides nannies for parents with children ages six weeks to 17 years.

Nannies may go to hotels, homes or children can stay at Town Square, where they can participate in activities at the on-site workshop.

Rates range from $23 to $35 per hour, with a $10 reservation fee, depending on whether a nanny will travel to a hotel, home or have the children stay on site.

SUMMER DAY SHELTER OPENS FOR MEN

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, has opened a summer day shelter for men as part of a grant received from the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition and the Committee on Homelessness.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can accommodate up to 100 men at one time.

$75 MAMMOGRAMS TO BE OFFERED THROUGH MAY AT SUNRISE HOSPITAL

The Breast Center at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, 3006 S. Maryland Parkway, plans to offer $75 mammogram screenings through May 31 for uninsured or underinsured women who are at least 40 years old.
