REGISTRATION AVAILABLE FOR next week’s RED ROCK RENDEZVOUS
Registration is still available for the 10th annual Red Rock Rendezvous, a rock climbing festival set for April 5-7 at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. People of all experience levels are invited to attend this festival as there are clinics and activities for the entire spectrum of climbers from beginner to advanced. More than 1,000 people from across the nation and world are expected to attend.
Registration includes the Friday night opening celebration, a Saturday night dinner buffet sponsored by The North Face, demos, comps and mini-seminars by event sponsors, a Dyno competition on Friday night, a blowout party on Saturday night, a pancake breakfast Sunday morning and service projects sponsored by GORE, Scarpa and Las Vegas Climber Liaison Council to assist in the environmental conservation of Red Rock Canyon and the Spring Mountains. Climbing clinics for various skill levels are also planned.
All the festival activities, outside of the climbing clinics, will take place at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, about 10 minutes from the entrance to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

GOLF INVITATIONAL SET TO RETURN
TO SHADOW CREEK april 4-7
The 12th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational is set for April 4-7 at Shadow Creek Golf Course, 3 Shadow Creek Drive. The event features celebrities, including Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps, pro football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Jonathan Ogden, comedian Rob Riggle, PGA golfer Dustin Johnson, country music star Jake Owen, actor James Denton, NFL quarterback Josh Freeman and actor/comedians Kevin Nealon and Wayne Brady.
The new participants will join host Michael Jordan, Marcus Allen, Anthony Anderson, Brian Baumgartner, Roger Clemens, Wayne Gretzky, Ken Griffey Jr., Penny Hardaway, Brett Hull, Toni Kukoc, Mario Lemieux, Greg Maddux, Tom Welling, Jesse Williams and Adrian Young as they swing for a cause.
The event includes four days of events and golf at Shadow Creek and ARIA.
The celebrity-amateur tournament, which pairs one celebrity with four amateur participants, is set for April 4 and 5.
Proceeds from the charitable tournament are to benefit Make-A-Wish, James R. Jordan Foundation, Opportunity Village and Cats Care, the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats’ charity arm.

PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT PLANNED
FOR participants 18 OR OLDER
An indoor pickleball tournament is planned for those 18 or older from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 19 at the Dula Gym, 441 E. Bonanza Road. Tickets are $15 if registered by April 5 and $20 after that. AT VETERANS MEMORIAL CENTER
A Spring Break Kids Camp is planned from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive.
The camp is for children 6 to 11. Youths need to bring a sack lunch and snacks each day. Sports, games and arts and crafts are offered.

SHRINERS golf tournament
PLANNED FOR OCTOBER AT TPC summerlin
The 2013 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open golf tournament is planned for Oct. 14-20 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle. The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is an official PGA Tour event. The 2013 tournament is set to feature more than 130 PGA Tour professionals competing for a $6 million purse, with a winner’s share of $1,080,000. All proceeds will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The events fourth annual Women’s Day luncheon, Kick Off Your Heels, is planned for Oct. 15. It will be catered and feature a guest speaker. Tickets are $125 per guest. The luncheon sold out in 2012, so early purchases are encouraged.

HUMANA GUIDANCE CENTERS SPONSOR WALKING GROUPS
Humana Guidance Centers are offering free walking groups led by a certified personal trainer. The program aims to positively impact seniors’ health by motivating and engaging them to take action and improve their fitness level and mental outlook by learning the proper walking and stretching techniques.
Each participant will receive a free pedometer and at the end of each outing can upload their steps at a Guidance Center computer kiosk or at home to tracks steps taken, distance and calories burned.

TEAM IN TRAINING BEGINS
FOR THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY
The Southern Nevada office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society announces its 2013 season of Team In Training, which teaches participants to complete half and full marathons while raising money and community awareness about blood cancers.
More than 50 participants are committing to run the Nike Women’s Marathon Half in April in Washington, D.C., or the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon & Half Marathon in June.
Participants hope to raise, on average, $3,000 each to support the organization and run in the races dedicated to LLS.

MS RELAY SEEKS RUNNING PARTNERS
The MS Run the US 2013 Relay, which is slated for April 16 through Sept. 17 and is to be divided into 22 segments, is seeking 14 running partners to take part in each leg of this coast-to-coast run. Each segment covers approximately 140 miles of running over the course of six days. All proceeds raised will support MS research. The relay is set to begin in Los Angeles in mid-April and wrap up in New York City five months later.

The program offers a variety of activities and special events that promote individuality, self-esteem and independence. The Lorenzi Adaptive Recreation Program for those ages 7 to 21 with disabilities is set from 1 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. Participants can enjoy a new recreation experience every week, community outings, sports, games, arts and crafts, swimming and movies. The cost is $27 for one to three days, $36 for four days and $45 for five days, per person.

The third annual Summerlin Half Marathon is planned for 7 a.m. April 13 at the JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd. The 13.1-mile course is set to meander through seven Summerlin villages on the community’s trail system.

GIRLS ON THE RUN OF LAS VEGAS
SEEKS TEAM MEMBERS
Girls on the Run of Las Vegas is looking to start a team of girls in third through fifth grade in northwest Las Vegas and Summerlin. The group forwards a youth development program, where girls meet twice a week for discussions regarding empowerment, self-confidence and healthy living. The group incorporates stretching, games and running during that time. At the end of the 12-week program, the entire Las Vegas chapter gets together for a 5K race.
