Driver killed, passenger injured in one-vehicle accident

One person was killed Monday in an accident in the central valley.

Las Vegas police said the single-vehicle accident happened about 9:40 a.m. on Lake Mead Boulevard at Tonopah Drive, when a car veered off the road and crashed into a power box.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was taken to University Medical Center with unknown injuries.
