Gathering to remember teen hiker who died at Red Rock
An informal gathering to remember, honor and offer comfort to friends and family of a teenage hiker who fell to his death Monday in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area will be held Wednesday night.
Friends and family will gather to remember Andrew Sasse, 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Shadow Hills Church recreation center, 7811 Vegas Dr. The gathering is open to the public.
Sasse was hiking near Calico Tanks when he left his group of friends. When he didn’t meet them at a pre-arranged time, they went looking for him and found his body. Sasse fell more than 80 feet.
Sasse was a senior at Bonanza High School and was to graduate in two weeks.
A memorial service will be at a later date. The family will announce details.
