Girl, 12, dies at apartment complex pool in northeast Las Vegas
A 12-year-old girl died after having a medical emergency at a pool in the northeast valley Thursday afternoon, according to Las Vegas police.
The girl was at the Cape Cod Village Apartment pool at 4231 Terrestrial Drive near East Tonopah Avenue and North Lamb Boulevard when she suffered from an asthma attack, Metro Lt. Timothy Hatchet said.
The Las Vegas fire department responded to reports of breathing problems around 1:45 p.m. The girl was taken to Sunrise Hopsital and Medical Center where she later died, Hatchet said.
The incident appears to be medically related and is not being investigated as a drowning, police said.
