Hit-and-run driver hits transformer, sparks fire
A Wednesday night hit-and-run crash left a southwest valley neighborhood without electricity for a short time.
Las Vegas police were called to the area of Durango Drive and Blue Diamond Road about 11:30 p.m., Metro spokeswoman officer Laura Meltzer said.
Witnesses on the scene said a car slammed into an electrical transformer, which cause it to spark and catch a tree on fire. Clark County firefighters extinguished the fire.
They said the driver was seen stumbling out of the car and running away.
The driver was possibly picked up by a second vehicle and an arrest had been reported Thursday morning, Meltzer said.
Power in the area was momentarily out. NV Power was on the scene.
