If you're outside and your reaction is to run back inside to the comfort of air conditioning, trust your instincts.
Sunday was the hottest day of the year in Las Vegas, according to the National Weather Service. And it's expected to get hotter this week.
Although no record was set, it reached 110 degrees at McCarran International Airport, the weather service's official temperature measuring station.
Sunday's high temperature didn't exceed the record of 113 degrees, set July 8, 1989.
The previous high temperature for the year was set on June 28 when it reached 108 degrees.
Ryan Metzger, a meteorologist with the weather service, called Sunday's weather "fairly typical."
He added that this week is expected to get incrementally hotter. Today's high is expected to reach 111 degrees, followed by 112 degrees on Tuesday and 113 on Wednesday.
None of this week's predicted temperatures is expected to break a record.
A slight cool-down might come Thursday, when the high temperature is expected to drop to 108 degrees.
You're in the desert, folks. What did you expect?
