Las Vegas police investigate shooting death near UNLV

A man died after a shooting near UNLV early Monday morning, Las Vegas police said.

Officers responded to the strip mall at 4480 S. Paradise Road, at Harmon Avenue and Paradise, just before 3 a.m. They found a man laying in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound, police said.

The man, who will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An initial investigation showed that the man and his girlfriend were in a car in the parking lot when they got into an argument with people in another car nearby.

The man left his car and pointed a gun at the other group. One of them pulled a gun out as well and fired, hitting him.

Police announced that they had already interviewed the person who shot the man, but did not release his name.

This is the 93rd homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
