Letter carriers to pick up food donations Saturday

Las Vegas Valley mail carriers will pick up donations of food on Saturday.

People can help out by leaving non-perishable food items by their mailboxes for delivery to the post office.

Participants can also visit any Albertsons Sav-on pharmacy between Friday and Sunday to donate money at the register for the cause.

“Here in Southern Nevada, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is a true community effort thanks to the strong support of our corporate and nonprofit partners, along with the hundreds of volunteers who help unload trucks and sort food at valley post offices,” said Glenn Norton, branch president of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Last year, 404,000 pounds of food was donated in Southern Nevada to more than 20 local food pantries, and 70 million pounds of food was distributed nationwide.
