Man arrested after stabbing near Stratosphere that drew SWAT team

A man who stabbed a woman and prompted a SWAT team response was arrested Friday afternoon, according to Las Vegas police.

The Metro SWAT team responded to a home in the 2100 block of Santa Paula Drive near the Stratosphere about 2:30 p.m., Las Vegas police said. The stabbing occurred after a possible domestic dispute, Metro spokeswoman officer Laura Meltzer said.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center with wounds that weren’t considered to be life-threatening, police said.

The man was detained about about 40 minutes after the SWAT team was called. Paramedics were evaluating him before his arrest, Meltzer said. His name and charges weren’t immediately available.
