Man dies after jumping or falling off freeway flyover

A person who fell from a flyover near southbound U.S. Highway 95 and Summerlin Parkway on Saturday has died, Las Vegas police said.

A male, whose age was not immediately available, fell just after 9 a.m. from Summerlin Parkway-to-U.S. 95 HOV flyover and was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Loy Hixson said.

He later died, Metro spokesman Lt. Jeff Goodwin said about 10:20 a.m.

It was unclear whether he jumped.

Traffic on southbound U.S. 95 was originally diverted onto Summerlin Parkway while officials investigated if the person jumped or fell onto the roadway, Hixson said. He will later be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

All lanes of traffic were open at 12:19 p.m., according to a Regional Transportation Commission email alert.
