Man dies in Sunday morning motorcycle crash

A 26-year-old Las Vegas man is dead following an early Sunday morning motorcycle crash in the south valley, according to police.

Michael Brandon Mattingly, of Las Vegas, was traveling eastbound on East Pebble Road, at South Havailand Road, just before 3:40 a.m. when he lost control of the 2013 Honda CBR 500R and crashed, said Metro spokesman Lt. Terry Bernard.

Evidence at the scene and a witness indicate that the motorcycle slid off of the roadway at the southeast corner of the intesection, across landscaping and into a tree and a block wall, police said in a Sunday morning release. The rider and motorcycle slid to a stop in the eastbound lanes of Pebble.

Mattingly was pronounced dead at the scene, Bernard said. He was identified Sunday by the Clark County coroner’s office.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Bernard said.

This was the 68th traffic-related death in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
