Man hospitalized after North Las Vegas fire

One man was hospitalized Thursday after a fire broke out at his home in North Las Vegas.

The unidentified man and three other adults were inside the single-story house at 2612 Brooks Ave., near Cheyenne Avenue and Civic Center Drive, when the fire began about 6:30 a.m., the North Las Vegas Fire Department reported.

The four people inside escaped through windows before firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke coming from the front of the house. Firefighters from North Las Vegas and Clark County contained the fire in about 45 minutes and prevented it from spreading to neighboring houses.

The home was considered a total loss, though an exact dollar figure was not immediately available.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

One man was taken to North Vista Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
