Man hospitalized after shooting near Centennial Hills Hospital

A male is hospitalized in unknown condition after he was shot near Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, police said Wednesday night.

Las Vegas police were called at 7:13 p.m. to an apartment complex at 6955 N. Durango Drive, south of Dorrell Lane, across from the hospital, where a male had been shot, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

A male, whose age was unknown, was taken to the hospital.

"The investigation is in the very early stages," Gordon said just before 9 p.m.

"It is reported a security guard shot at somebody," Metro Officer Jesse Roybal said about 45 minutes later. It was also unclear whether the guard worked in the apartment complex, Roybal said.

Durango in front of Centennial Hills Hospital is closed to traffic while police investigate, Gordon said.
