Man in custody after shooting at Las Vegas Strip convenience store

A man is in custody after a convenience store shooting on the Las Vegas Strip early Monday morning, according to police.

Officers responded at 1:28 a.m. to what was initially called a robbery in the 3800 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South. The incident started as a verbal altercation between customers. A male customer left the store, went to a vehicle and returned to the store shooting, according to Las Vegas police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer.

The man left in a vehicle, and witnesses followed him to an area near East Tropicana Avenue and South Maryland Parkway, where he fled on foot, Meltzer said. The man was taken into custody.

No one was hit by gunshots or injured.
