A 29-year-old man died Friday after a crash on southbound Interstate 15 near Silverado Ranch, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The Clark County coroner’s office identified him as Justin Michael De Los Santos of Las Vegas.
The crash happened just after 2 a.m. NHP officials said De Los Santos, driving a white, 4-door BMW, was speeding on I-15 as he drove onto the Silverado exit and hit a traffic signal pole. The vehicle continued across the westbound lanes of Silverado before coming to a stop in the median.
De Los Santos, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, NHP trooper Loy Hixson said. The driver was wearing a seat belt.
The impact and damage was mostly to the driver’s side, Hixson said.
There were no other cars involved or other injuries reported.
Both directions of Silverado Ranch near I-15 were shut down for about four hours.
