Man killed in suspected DUI crash

A man was killed in a car crash in the southwest valley early Tuesday, Las Vegas police said.

A 2005 Cadillac Deville heading west on Russell Road about 1:15 a.m. ran a red light at the intersection with South Decatur Boulevard and collided with a 2002 Toyota Corolla that was traveling south, police said.

The Toyota's driver was taken to University Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, Metro Lt. David Gordon said.

The Cadillac's driver, 22-year-old Las Vegan Kristoffer Leigh, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death, Metro said in a statement. Leigh and the passenger weren't injured in the crash, Metro said.

The Clark County coroner's office will identify the man killed in the crash after his family has been notified.

The crash is Metro's 15th traffic-related fatality for 2016, the statement said.
