Man sentenced in 2009 armored car robbery

A Las Vegas man was sentenced in federal court Tuesday for his part in the 2009 robbery of an armored car driver.

U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey sentenced Arquarius Robertson, 31, of Las Vegas, to 14 years in prison, five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $36,320 in restitution

Robertson pleaded guilty in March to one count of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery and one count of using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. Two co-defendants, Williams Morrow and Cortaz Robertson, also pleaded guilty and are scheduled for sentencing in July.

On the morning of Dec. 14, 2009, Robertson and the others stole approximately $36,320 from an armored car driver who had just exited the Palace Station casino with money and checks from the cashier cage.

Robertson had a gun and was disguised in make-up, a wig, a fake belly, gloves, and sunglasses, when he approached the driver and demanded the money.

He fired a warning shot into the air before the criminals drove away in the getaway car, a stolen 2004 Chrysler Sebring, court documents show.

The security guard was not hurt.
