Metro looks for ‘person of interest’ in fatal Las Vegas shooting

Las Vegas police were looking for “a person of interest” after a late Friday night shooting death in the central valley.

Metro on Saturday night released a photo of a man they said is connected to the shooting. He is described as Hispanic and wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.

Late Saturday night, police also released a photo of one of two men taken into custody on Friday.

Yors Garcia-Mier, 18, was booked at Clark County Detention Center and faces charges of murder with a deadly weapon, the release said.

Officers were flagged down about a fight in the 2900 block of Fremont Street just north of Oakey Boulevard about 11:45 p.m., police Lt. Will Huddler said.

The officers heard a “pop” sound near the location, Huddler said. Upon arrival they found a person with a gunshot wound to his torso.

He died at University Medical Center. He will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Huddler said two people were taken into custody in the death shortly after the shooting. The search for a third man continued.
