No LA-type threats received by Clark County schools, officials say

Clark County School District officials said Tuesday that they have not received any threats similar to one received by the Los Angeles Unified School District, which prompted the cancellation of all classes there.

But school police in Southern Nevada said they recently changed some security protocols.

"None that I will state publicly," school district police Capt. Ken Young said, refusing to elaborate on what changes were made.

Los Angeles district Superintendent Ramon Cortines said the threat was in a "message" that referred to backpacks and "other packages." He said many schools were threatened, although none by name. The threat was toward students in schools but not buses, CNN reported.

A similar threat was received in New York City, but was quickly deemed a hoax.
