North Las Vegas man, 36, dies after crashing motorcycle into wall

A 36-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after crashing a motorcycle into a block wall. He was not wearing a helmet, North Las Vegas police said.

The man's identity was not released.

Police said the incident occurred at 3:05 p.m. in the 2100 block of Carver Avenue, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Comstock Drive.

Police said the man, from North Las Vegas, was riding a 2004 Suzuki GSX600F west on Hassell Avenue at a high rate of speed. The street ends at an intersection with Carver. Police said the motorcyclist crossed Carver and struck the wall on the west side of the road nearly head-on. He died at the scene.

Witnesses told police the motorcyclist was riding most of the afternoon in shorts and without a helmet.

Police said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved, but speed and lack of safety equipment do appear to have contributed to the man's death.
