Obama returning to Las Vegas next week

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama plans to make yet another trip to Southern Nevada on June 7, a White House official said Wednesday.

The White House said Obama will speak at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas at an official event, and details would be forthcoming.

It will mark the president's eighth trip to Southern Nevada since he was elected, and 10th overall to the battleground state. Most recently he stopped over in Reno on May 11 to promote his administration's housing policies.

While Obama's latest visit to Las Vegas will be on official business, it comes two days before the Nevada state Democratic Party convention in Las Vegas and seems certain to energize the party faithful.

Early voting is under way in Nevada through June 8. The state's primary election will be June 12.
